To connect tip upon receipt of tc850:
- Remove screws and carrier top to expose the meter, and remove.
- Insert the tip into the lance, and lock into place with 2 screws.
- Attach Chromel lead (with yellow jacket) to the + (positive) terminal of the connector
- Attach Alumel lead (with red jacket) to the - (negative) terminal of the connector
- Plug the connector into the meter, install in carrier, and replace carrier top.
- The unit is now ready for use

to replace expendable tips
- Remove screws and carrier top to expose the meter. Remove, then disconnect connector from meter.
- Disconnect wires from connector to allow wires to pull through handle.
- Loosen 2 screws holding tip in the end of the lance. Pull tip out, including wire.
- Insert wire of new tip into the end of the handle and push through to carrier. Lock in tip with 2 screws.
- Cut wires to expose 1 to 1.25 inches in the carrier.
- Attach Chromel lead (with yellow jacket) to the + (positive) terminal of the connector
- Attach Alumel lead (with red jacket) to the - (negative) terminal of the connector. Hint: If colored sleeving is absent, Chromel is magnetic and can be identified with a magnet.
- Plug the connector into the meter, install in carrier, and replace carrier top.
- The unit is now ready for use.
